BUFVC Audiovisual Citation Guide

Posted on April 15, 2013

The BUFVC (British Universities Film and Video Council) has recently published a guide on it’s website which specifies how to reference and cite a wide variety of audiovisual materials.  In addition to recommending how to cite a film or TV programme, it also includes more specific aspects of these, such as film trailers, or television idents.  There’s also a lot of information about referencing a wide range of audiovisual materials, including games, television adverts, and user-generated content (e.g. Youtube).

Although this doesn’t quite match up with the recommendations in  our referencing guide, it’s very close, and may help to provide a pointer as to how to reference some of this material.  The guide is freely available online.

If you need any help with referencing, come and see us.
