Welcome to our new students

Shelves of Art Books

As Welcome Week has arrived I’d like to extend a welcome to all our new students.  Each programme at NTU has a librarian attached to it, and the School of Art and Design has two:

Rachel Campbell:  Fashion Communication & Promotion; Fashion Design; Fashion Marketing & Branding ; Fashion & Textile Management; Graphic Design; International Fashion Business; Knitwear & Knitted Textile ; Photography; Textile Design.

Ian Rogers: Decorative Arts; Design for Film & Television; Fine Arts; Multimedia; Product Design; Theatre Design.

It’s our job to make sure you can access the information you need so you can perform your research.  We do this in several ways.  We liaise with your lecturers and tutors to find out what your courses are about and what subjects you’re working with.  We help you with your research by showing you how to use the information that we have for you. We can help with referencing, and if you need to talk to somebody about something concerning the library.

The library is open every day during term time, with the 4th floor computer area being available 24/7.  We have standard Microsoft software, such as Word and Excel, plus some specialist software on some of the computers, e.g. CS5.

We also offer training sessions that you can sign up for.  These cover many different things, such as using NOW, how to reference, trend prediction services, and visual research.
