Training Events for Staff and Students – w/c 23rd May

This week’s training events cover visual research, Office 2010, and Open Access. There are other events going on across all three campus libraries, please check our website for more details.


  • Visual Research.  Monday 23rd May. 10-11.30.  How do you find images to illustrate your work?  What’s better to use, Google Images, image databases, or free websites? This session will provide you with an overview image locations and searching techniques.
  • Microsoft Office 2010 Thursday 26th May, 1-2. This session will introduce a number of basic tools within Office 2010 including: the ribbon, tabs, migration, compatibility and other tips.


  • Open Access and iRep.   Wednesday 25th May, 2-3.  Want to know more about how to raise your research profile by publishing via an Open Access route (i.e. free for the end user to access)?  This session will outline what Open Access is, use of IRep, how to make use of it and how to publish your work via this channel.
